IMPHAL: Four people were killed in Manipur after armed attackers opened fire at a crowd in Thoubal district on Monday. Following this, a curfew was imposed in the region considering the possibility of conflict. Curfew was re-imposed in the districts of Thoubal, Imphal East, Kakching and Bishnupur due to the prevailing tension.
Reports are claiming that some vehicles were set on fire during the violence. 14 injured persons were admitted to the hospital.
According to the order issued by the District Magistrate, the curfew has been announced as part of bringing the law and order situation under control. Chief Minister Biren Singh announced that an investigation has been launched and the culprits will be arrested soon. He also requested that no one take the law into their hands.
