THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain has been predicted in the state for the next five days. Yellow alert has been sounded in various districts. Yellow alert has been sounded in Ernakulam the day after tomorrow and in Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod on Friday. A chance of isolated heavy rain has been predicted.


The National Center for Oceanographic Studies (INCOIS) said that high waves and rough seas are likely to occur along the Kerala coast and south Tamil Nadu coast till 11.30 tonight.


The Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is no restriction on fishing in the Kerala-Karnataka coasts and one should not go fishing in the Lakshadweep area. Strong winds with gustiness of 40 to 45 km per hour and gusting to 55 km per hour at few occasions and bad weather are likely over Lakshadweep region till January 5th.
