THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CBI ends search for Jasna, who went missing from Kottayam Erumeli six years ago. A report was also given pointing out this in the court. The CBI told the court that they could not find out what happened to Jasna and would resume the investigation if any new information about her disappearance was received.

In the report, the CBI has also made allegations of serious lapses on the part of the Kerala Police in the case. The CBI alleged that the police did nothing in the first 48 hours of Jasna's disappearance and that such a lapse happened when the first few hours are crucial in a missing man case. The report also states that the police had said that they had received an indication that Jasna was alive, but no such indication was received.

According to the CBI report, the police intensified the investigation only after a week of her disappearance and neither her father nor her friend had any role in Jasna's disappearance. Jasna Maria James, a second-year graduate student of Kanjirapally SD College, went missing on March 22, 2018. Jasna went missing on her way to her relative's house in Mundakkayam.

Several teams of the Kerala Police, including the Crime Branch, conducted an investigation to find her, but to no avail. The case was ordered to be handed over to the CBI when the Christian Alliance and Social Action approached the High Court stating that there was no progress in the investigation. The CBI took up the investigation based on the court order on February 2021.
