CAPE TOWN: Team India is currently on a tour of South Africa. The second match of the two-match Test series begins tomorrow. The South Africa tour is followed by the India-Afghanistan T20 series. The squad for this series has not been announced. Meanwhile, BCCI has a selection dilemma ahead of the T20 World Cup which will be held in West Indies and USA in June. The issue concerns the T20 future of senior players, captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who are integral parts of the team.

It is indicated that Kohli and Rohit, who are now in brilliant form, are interested in playing the World Cup in June. The selection committee chairman Ajith Agarkar and members Shivsundar Das and Salil Ankola are going to meet Indian coach Rahul Dravid to take a decision in this regard. These meetings will be held before announcing the team to face Afghanistan.

Prior to this, BCCI will monitor and evaluate the performance of 30 players playing for India and IPL. There is no indication that the duo will play beyond two matches in the upcoming England Test series as IPL is set to begin after this. BCCI cannot ask the franchises to reduce the workload of a key player for the World Cup and will have to choose two players for one position. Hardik Pandya, who is currently out with an injury, and T20 specialist Suryakumar Yadav are certain not to be in the Afghanistan series.
