PALODE: A man has been arrested by the police here for allegedly stabbing his wife after pouring acid on her face. The arrested has been identified as Radhakrishnan (49), of Padinjattinkara House in Naalu Cent Colony. The police said that the reason for the attack was suspicion towards his wife Usha and enmity over not signing the accident claim.

He had a quarrel with Usha (47), who works as a home nurse, for some time. The alleged incident took place when his wife went to buy goods at a shop in Suryakanthi. After pouring acid on her face, Radhakrishnan allegedly stabbed Usha in the back with a knife and while he was trying to escape on a bike, the locals detained him and handed him over to the police. The police said that the accused had been waiting for some time to attack Usha with acid and knife.

The injured Usha is undergoing treatment at the Medical College Hospital. A team comprising Palode CIP Shajimon, SIs A Nizaruddin, Rahim, Rajan, GSCPO Sujukumar and Arun is investigating the case. The accused has been remanded.
