beena-kumbalangi-actress

Actress Beena Kumbalangi has been part of the Malayalam film industry even before the rise of superstars including Mohanlal. She appeared in prominent roles in Padmarajan movies and did a handful of other interesting roles before going into oblivion. But it was the small cameo in Kalyanaraman (2002) that earned the actress popularity like she never before. Memes surrounding her scenes were an everyday affair on the internet but seldom did people know about Beena’s crisis-led life.

Recently, Beena left the house built for her by the film association AMMA. after she encountered constant abuse from relatives which affected her mentally. And now, after hearing the actress’s plight, Adoor Mahatma Janasevana Kendra came forward to provide her shelter.

Philanthropist and film actress Seema G Nair turned out to be the messiah for Beena during her calamitous days when the actress even considered suicide to escape her predicament.

“ I thought about calling Seema as a last respite and fixed in my mind that if Seema fails to answer, I will commit suicide. However, luck favoured me” Beena says.

Beena’s words:

My father was in Copra business. However, all money was lost while inheriting property. My father lost his job and we were seven children at home. Along with them our house also accommodated, my mother, father and grandmother. I took responsibility at the age of 17 and started acting in movies. The money that I brought from movies helped make ends meet in our family.

My real issue started when I asked for my share in property from my sister. She along with her husband ridiculed me with a wry smile. I was shocked seeing that and thought how could they do this to me? My parents are gone and my husband died long back. I have no children. They should have considered at least that and showed some mercy. I was wearied after that and never got up from bed. It was to escape the trauma that I dialled Seema, and now she helped me find heaven in this new abode.
