KOLLAM: With six more courses offered by Sree Narayanaguru Open University getting UGC approval, the number of courses has increased to 28.
The courses newly recognized by UGC are BCA, BA Political Science, BA Psychology, BA Nano-Entrepreneurship, MA Public Administration and MA Political Science. For the first time in India, BA Nano Entrepreneurship is being launched by a university with UGC approval. The course has been developed by the University with the aim of imparting academic knowledge to start and run start-ups and micro-enterprises. The theory includes subjects like accounting, management and economics. The three-year course also includes an internship that ensures practical experience and entrepreneurial skills for learners in any career field of their choice. The university will sign MoUs for this with various institutions. On completion of this course, the learner will get entrepreneurial training along with the degree.
The most important element of the Sree Narayanaguru Open University Act to start all the programs run by other universities in Kerala will become a reality with the commencement of the approved courses now. The next Syndicate will decide on inviting applications for new courses.
The curriculum is the core of the BA Entrepreneurship program. The University is initiating an educational process to provide micro-entrepreneurs. -Dr PM Mubarak Pasha, VC
