THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: One person died and several others were injured in two different road accidents that shocked the capital city on Thursday. A person died when a car and a bike collided in Thonnakkal near Attingal on the national highway. The bike rider died in the accident while another one suffered serious injury and is currently undergoing treatment.
The accident happened in front of Life Science Park on Thursday noon. It is known that the passengers inside the car escaped from any injuries. According to locals, the bike which was moving from Mangalapuram to the Attingal route was cruising at a high speed and crashed into the car at a turn. The locals found a card from the wallet of the bike rider which mentioned the name ‘Adithyan’. The dead body has been moved to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College mortuary.
In another incident, a bus lost control in Vellayamabalam and crashed into a nearby wall. The bus ferried a large number of people and many among them suffered minor injuries. The incident happened on Thursday at 3 pm. The bus which was shuttling service between Eastfort and Vazhayila met with an accident near the Vellayambalam signal. According to the driver of the bus, when the vehicle reached Vellayambalam signal, the brake pedal got jammed which made the driver crash the vehicle into the wall to avoid further calamity.
