THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauds Kerala's BJP for exceptional organizational skills showcased in the women's power rally held in Thrissur. Chairman K Surendran receives commendation for his leadership.
Surendran, previously criticized for losing legislative representation has transformed perceptions by establishing a robust organizational framework. Despite setbacks in the last Lok Sabha elections, the BJP faced fatigue as its prominent candidate Suresh Gopi secured third place.
Thrissur, compared to Thiruvananthapuram lacked strong BJP organization. Surendran's two-week camping and strategic leadership assembled teams—1200 women, 2600 men and a 100-member team led by six district presidents orchestrating a massive rally. Professionals, celebrities, housewives and various segments like employees and students were mobilized with separate organizational teams.
Direct engagement by Surendran in weak areas like Guruvayoor and Chavakkad bolstered booth presidents. This success has rejuvenated hopes for victory in the next election within the BJP.
The reconciliation with Shobha Surendran who publicly criticized Surendran and providing equitable space for all in the BJP Thrissur program showcases inclusive leadership. The involvement of notable personalities like Shobhana, Minnu Mani, Beena Kannan and Mariyakutty was a significant achievement.
Amid speculations of resignation post the last assembly elections' defeat, Modi labeled Surendran a "fighter" encouraging him to demonstrate it within the organization. Thrissur witnessed the fruition of this advice.
Surendran's efforts in bringing back figures like Major Ravi and Devan while attracting Anil Antony, son of Congress stalwart AK Antony and C Raghunath, an associate of KPCC President K Sudhakaran underscores his leadership. It appears imminent that Surendran will lead Kerala's BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
