NEW DELHI: Rumours are rife that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal may be arrested after he skipped the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) summons for the third time in the Delhi liquor policy case.
Aam Aadmi Ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj alleged that the ED will be making moves to arrest Kejriwal. Atishi asked the ED to send the questions in writing.
Following the arrest rumours, police barricades were erected in front of Kejriwal's official residence to prevent protests by activists. It is not clear whether the ED will issue a fourth summons or proceed to arrest Kejriwal by conducting a raid at his residence.
Kejriwal did not appear before the ED on January 3 saying that he was busy with preparations for the Republic Day Parade. ED had earlier asked him to appear for questioning on November 2 and December 21.
Meanwhile, Kejriwal has denied the allegations of corruption against him in the liquor policy.
"In the last two years, all the agencies of BJP have conducted many raids but not a single penny was found. If there is corruption then where is the money? AAP leaders are kept in jail in such fake cases. Now BJP wants to arrest me. My biggest strength and asset is my honesty," he said.
