THRISSUR: A wild elephant has destroyed a house in Athirappilly. The incident took place in the Athirappilly plantation region at around 2 am today. The elephant partially destroyed the house of plantation worker Sreeja. Fortunately, the family managed to escape through the back door.
The other day, a herd of wild elephants entered the Poonchery and Challa areas of Ayiloor in Palakkad and destroyed crops extensively. The elephants destroyed about 25 coconut trees, more than 50 banana trees, areca palms and black pepper plants in the farms of Kalyanakandam K. Balachandran, Puncherikkalam K. Chenthamarakshan and Jijo Onayikkara.
