SULTAN BATHERI: A tiger attacked and injured a four-year-old girl named Keerthana, daughter of Vasantha Kumar and Devaki from Kolapally Sevyar Matam. The incident occurred at 6:30 pm on Thursday while the child was playing in her house's backyard, where her parents were present. The tiger suddenly pounced on Keerthana, prompting her parents to swiftly chase it away. The injured child was rushed to Panthallur Taluk Hospital for treatment.

This recent attack has sparked outrage among locals, resulting in a road blockade and closure of the market in Kolavalli as a form of protest. This isn't the first incident of its kind in the region; last month, a tiger attacked three women in the Panthallur area. Reports indicate that these attacks often occur when individuals step outside their homes. The severity of tiger harassment is notably high in Panthallur and the neighboring areas near the Kerala border specifically in villages like Ayanipura, Thottapura, Mullanwayal and Pudusherry.

Yesterday, residents in the Panthallur Kolapally area took to the streets, demanding action against the tiger advocating for its removal or shooting.
