rain

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain with thunder and lightning remains a high possibility in Kerala, warned the Indian meteorological department on Saturday. This is due to the influence of the cyclone formed over Lakshadweep in the southeast Arabian Sea. The Meteorological Department has warned that strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour are likely to occur along with thundershowers at isolated places.

A yellow alert has also been announced in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts on Saturday, while on Sunday, a yellow alert was issued to Idukki, Ernakulam and Palakkad districts.

People living in coastal regions are advised to practice caution and move to a shelter house in case of emergency. Fishing activities can continue with strict regulations.
