THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The money splashed for the ‘Keraleeyam’ art events were hitherto shrouded in mystery. And now, ending all the quibbles, some details have emerged. The government has spent Rs 1.55 crore on the art programs held at the Thiruvananthapuram Central Stadium. The Kerala government organized the event to show the world, Kerala's developmental progress.

The venue at Central Stadium, where the opening and closing ceremonies of the event were held, was tightly packed with people for seven days. On another note, allegations and rumours found space after the government failed to disclose details about the expenditure, even two months after the culmination of the event.

Rs 8 lakh was spent on actress Shobana’s inaugural dance performance. On the second day, the special show organized by GS Pradeep and Mukesh MLA cost Rs 8,30,000. Poet Murugan Kattakada’s program was conducted on a budget of Rs 4,50,000 while a whopping Rs 20,05,000 was spent for K S Chithra’s musical event.

Percussionist Stephan Devassy and Chenda Maestro Mattannoor Sankarankutty’s event was conducted at Rs 1,11,900. However, the second highest expenditure came on the final day, for the musical show conducted by music director M Jayachandran which incurred Rs 9,90,000. Only the figures for the seven events held at the Central Stadium have been released now.
