THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chance of rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in the state. According to IMD, strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour are also possible.
Yellow alert has been declared in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam and Idukki districts. A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. Ernakulam, Idukki and Palakkad districts are on yellow alert tomorrow.
A cyclonic circulation is prevailing over Lakshadweep. A low pressure area is located from cyclonic circulation to Vidarbha. Therefore, the Meteorological Center has warned that there is a possibility of light/moderate rain in Kerala for the next five days.
The Indian National Center for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) said that storm surges are likely to occur till 11:30 tonight along the Kerala coast and North Tamil Nadu coast with waves at a height of 0.5 to 1.2 meters and 1.0 to 1.8 meters along the South Tamil Nadu coast. The weather department has warned that there is no disruption to fishing in the Kerala-Karnataka coasts and that one should not go fishing in the Lakshadweep area.
Meanwhile, the shutters of Aruvikkara dam were raised by 25 cm. The district collector informed that it will be raised by another 25 cm at 5 pm today and the residents should be careful.
