BHOPAL: 26 girls have gone missing from an orphanage in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. 26 girls from the states of Gujarat and Jharkhand have gone missing from the unregistered orphanage. The police have registered a case against Anil Methew, the manager of the institution, and the orphanage management. The current whereabouts of the missing girls are unknown.

The incident came to light when the National Child Rights Commission visited the orphanage. Although 68 girls were named in the documents, 26 of them were found to be missing. Children present here were between the ages of six and 18 and 26 of them are missing now. The police said that the children's home is not functioning under the Juvenile Justice Act and is not registered.

The Child Rights Commission has sought a report from the Chief Secretary on the incident. Former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also came forward seeking intervention. The Child Rights Commission has found that although the order requires women guards to be stationed at the girls' orphanage at night, it is male guards doing the same here.
