GUDALUR: A hartal has been declared tomorrow in Pandalur in protest against the incident where a three-year-old girl was mauled to death by a leopard in Gudalur in Tamil Nadu. As part of the protest, the locals blocked the road in Goodalur and Pantallur taluks, following which the traffic to Kerala via Natukanichuram was halted.
The deceased three-year-old girl, identified as Nancy, was attacked by a leopard in Devana Mango Village in Gudallur. Nancy is the daughter of Sivashankar and Milan Devi, natives of Jharkhand. The leopard snatched the child from her father's hand while she was coming from Anganwadi,
Meanwhile, there was another tiger attack in Sulthan Batheri in Vakeri's Mudakolli. A tiger attacked a pig farm in the area and killed 20 pigs weighing around fifty kilos. A pile of pig carcasses was found in the bushes on the forest border about fifty meters away from the farm. Two piglets were also found dead at the farm. Farm owner Karikulam Sreenesh said that the attack took place last night. There was a tiger attack on the farm six years ago. The forest department reached the spot and checked the footprints near the farm and confirmed that a tiger was behind the attack. It has also been decided to set up a cage in the area to catch the .
