The Peerumedu Court remanded Palraj, relative of Arjun, accused in the POCSO case, for fourteen days. The police have charged Palraj with charges including attempt to murder. The FIR stated that the accused was deliberately creating provocation.

The paternal uncle of Arjun, acquitted by the court in the case of raping and killing a six-year-old girl, stabbed the victim's father and grandfather yesterday morning. The victim's father and grandfather were on their way to attend a funeral function. At this time Palraj made obscene gestures to them. The two questioned this and it ended in a verbal argument. It created a ruckus and Palraj stabbed the two with the knife he kept in his hand.

The victim’s father sustained injuries on his thighs, chest and shoulder. The grandfather who was with him also sustained injuries. Both were admitted to primary health center in Vandiperiyar and later to Peerumedu taluk hospital. The child's father was shifted to Kottayam Medical College for further tests. The accused who escaped after the attack was caught by the Peerumedu police and handed over to the Vandiperiyar police.

Arjun's family had approached the high court and obtained police protection stating that there was a possibility of an attack on them. The girl's family and relatives did not allow Arjun to reach his own house. Following this, Arjun was staying with Palraj. After the acquittal of Arjun, disputes broke out between the two sides.

The parents of the six-year-old girl went to Thiruvananthapuram and met the chief minister and conveyed their complaints regarding the case. The police provided protection to the family of the victim after the Congress, CPI and BJP leaders, led by M P Dean Kuriakos, came forward to provide protection to the victim's family.
