NEW DELHI: Five people, including a woman, have been arrested in Delhi in the case of gang-raping a 12-year-old girl to celebrate New Year. Among those arrested are a tea seller and three minor boys. Police stated that the incident took place on January 2 in Old Delhi's Sadar Bazaar. The victim of the brutal crime was a girl who was employed as a scrap collector. Due to fear, the girl kept the incident a secret for two days. The girl disclosed it to her relative and after this, a case was filed with the police. Following this, the accused were arrested.
What the police say: The arrested woman was a regular visitor to the tea shop in Sadar Bazaar. She was also working as a scrap collector. On January 1, the tea shopkeeper asked the woman to arrange for him a girl to celebrate the New Year. The police suspect that the woman was paid for this. The next day, the woman tricked the 12-year-old and asked her to go to collect scrap near the makeshift shed where the accused lived. The accused, who were waiting there, forcibly took the girl to the shed and abused her. They threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident. The accused boys are 12, 14, 15 years old.
