JAIPUR: Rajasthan Congress suspended Mewaram Jain from party's primary membership after former MLA's obscene videos went viral on social media. The action was taken by Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra.
Claiming the viral video was fake, Mewaram filed a case against it at the Kotwali police station. He is a three-time MLA from Barmer assembly constituency.
In December, a married woman filed a rape case against Mewaram Jain at the Rajiv Gandhi Nagar police station in Jodhpur. As per the complaint, Jain and his accomplice Ramswaroop Acharya raped her and misbehaved with her 15-year-old minor daughter. On the woman's complaint, a case was registered against 9 people including Mewaram Jain and RPS Anand Singh Rajpurohit.
After this, the woman underwent a medical examination. The statement was also recorded. After approaching court in the matter, Mewaram Jain has been barred from arrest till January 25 and directed to cooperate with the investigation. Even during the assembly elections, this issue was strongly raised.
