SABARIMALA: A pilgrim was allegedly beaten by the police while climbing the 'Pathinettam Padi' at Sabarimala Sannidhanam. The said pilgrim has been identified as Rajesh (30), residing in Kasturi Y Nagar in Mysore Road Tollgate in Bengaluru. The incident happened around 5:30 pm on Sunday.
Rajesh reached Sabarimala with a group of 22 members from Bengaluru. According to the complaint, a six-year-old, who was in the group, climbed the steps with Rajesh and the police beat him on the grounds that the boy was not climbing the stairs quickly. Rajesh, who was injured in the beating, was admitted to Sannidhanam Hospital by his companions.
Recently, Dayanand (24), a native of Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, also complained that he was beaten up by the police on 'Pathinettam Padi'. He also sought treatment at Sannidhanam Hospital.
