KOCHI: Theertha Sarvika was hailed as the winner in front of those who tried to defeat her by mocking her. The 27-year-old, who won the Miss Universe Trans Organization's 2023 Curvy Universe Trans title, still has two dreams. Do a good role in a movie. Write a book describing her life experiences in English.
She got an opportunity in Malayalam cinema once but didn't do it due to busy work in a major company in Bengaluru.
Theertha, a trans woman, hails from Ernakulam South Paravoor. She has a degree in Engineering and English Literature. Theertha was selected from 12 contestants from 10 countries including Brazil, Cambodia, Philippines and Indonesia in the curvy category at the Miss Universe Trans pageant held in Delhi in December. The competition was for 4 days and assessed general knowledge, behavior and ability to prepare projects.
Transition to female
She received mocking nicknames during her school days. When she told her family about her desire to live as a girl, their reaction was fierce. The famous writer Paulo Coelho's book The Alchemist inspired her. Even while studying for engineering, she endured many bitter experiences. Finally she settled in Ernakulam with her friends and got a job in Metro. Soon the first stage of sex reassignment surgery was performed. She then graduated from Maharajas College. The change was complete with a second surgery in 2020.
