MALAPPURAM: A mobile phone of a renowned company exploded soon after it was given to a shop to change the battery. The incident took place at a mobile shop at Pandikkad in Vandoor at around 3 pm today. It is reported that a major disaster was averted due to the timely intervention of the employees. Sources said that the phone belonged to a migrant worker.
The Poco X3 model mobile phone, given by the migrant worker to change the battery, exploded shortly after the shop employee kept it aside to fix it later. The employee then extinguished the fire. The battery of the phone was completely burnt. If it had been minutes earlier, the phone would have exploded in the hands of the owner.
In October, a family had suffered a loss worth lakhs after a mobile phone exploded while it was kept for charging. The incident took place in Polpully in Palakkad. Furniture and electronic equipment inside the house caught fire after the phone exploded. The Samsung Galaxy A03 phone, which exploded, belonged to Polpully native Shiju.
