THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said that he has realized from his public life that boundaries cannot be imposed on Kerala. He was speaking after presenting the N Ramachandran Award to Dr Shashi Tharoor MP.
"For Kerala, the world is the limit. I have no direct relationship or acquaintance with N Ramachandran. However, it is understood that his legacy and thoughts are what brought the country's biggest leaders to this stage. Compared to other parts of the country, Kerala has a tradition of ethical journalism. N Ramachandran has played a major role in it.' Shivakumar also stated that he is a fan of Shashi Tharoor who received the award.
Renowned sarod player Ustad Amjad Ali Khan said Shashi Tharoor, his friend of 50 years, is a multi-talented man. He added that DK Sivakumar is an energetic leader who is committed to the country and that he is a fan of both. "Kerala is like my own home. I have been performing here since the 70s. Everyone here is educated.", he added. He said that voice is God and concluded the speech by singing a Tarana song.
Famous poet and media adviser to the Chief Minister Prabhavarma stated in the chairperson's speech that N Ramachandran's speeches always spoke loud for social justice. Prabhavarma pointed out that it was in his speech that KR Narayanan was first demanded to be made the President and his sharp writings highlighted his progressive nature.
