KUWAIT CITY: Kuwait is preparing to deport thousands of expatriates for various violations of the law in five days after the New Year. Expatriates who have violated labour and residence laws are set to be deported. The violators were caught during the inspection conducted under the special instructions of Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said that such inspections were being carried out in the country to highlight the government's commitment to upholding legal labour practices. The Ministry of Interior said that the highest number of expatriate deportations for violating local laws was reported last year.

31,42,892 expats were deported between January 1 and December 31 of last year. Among them, 17,701 were women. 42,265 individuals—17,701 of whom were women—were administratively deported. The Ministry of Interior said that expatriates who violate such laws were being deported for the sake of national security.
