THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The First Class Judicial Magistrate Court Three rejected Rahul's bail plea, alongside four other Youth Congress members.
The court heard prosecution arguments asserting that Rahul allegedly attacked police during the Secretariat March, obstructed officers from their duties, assaulted a police vehicle and interfered with the arrest of other people. The plea for bail on health grounds was dismissed after the prosecution contended that Rahul had no health issues confirmed by a prior medical examination at Fort Hospital.
Prosecution strongly opposed bail stating that the incident wasn't a mere protest but an attack instigated by Rahul. Police reports indicated Rahul's presence at the time of the incident.
Rahul was arrested this morning by Thiruvananthapuram Cantonment Police from his residence in Pathanamthitta, in connection with the unauthorized Youth Congress Secretariat March which resulted in damage to public property.
The charges against Rahul encompass sections of the Indian Penal Code related to group violence, public property destruction, obstructing law enforcement and assaulting officers along with a case under the Police Act. Subsequent to Rahul's arrest, Youth Congress members have initiated state wide protests in response.
