ALAPPUZHA: The widow and children of KG Prasad (57) Ambedkar Colony at Kunnumma, Thakazhi who committed suicide after being denied a loan will not have to leave their house. The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Department has ordered to stay the process of confiscation of Prasad's house and five-cent property. Kerala Kaumudi had published a news about the confiscation of Prasad's house. The action is as per the directive of Minister K Radhakrishnan following the news.
The minister had directed the officials to settle the loan with maximum concession and talk to the family. Following this, District Manager MK Bose and his team went to the house and took an application in writing to avoid confiscation. Prasad's wife Omana was sent a foreclosure notice on August 27, 2022, after she defaulted on a self-employment loan of Rs 17,600 taken from the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation.
It has been directed to stay the confiscation proceedings against Prasad's family. The loan will be settled in one lump sum with interest concessions. The Corporation has sought an urgent report from the MD for sending the notice without understanding the situation of the family. Further action will be taken after receiving the report."

A letter was written to the government requesting that Prasad's family's debt be written off, financial assistance of 25 lakh rupees be given and his daughter be given a job.
