KASARAGOD: Vigilance arrested a professor of Central University while accepting the first instalment of Rs.20,000 from the total bribe of Rs.2,00,000 which was fixed earlier. AK Mohan, a native of Mysore, was arrested by Kasaragod Vigilance DySP VK Vishwambharan and his team.
Mohan, a professor in the social work department, demanded Rs 2 lakh to re-appoint the previous temporary employee and arrange him a Ph.D. seat. His wife is an assistant professor at Central University. The appointment will be made by a panel consisting of her and two others. The professor informed the candidate that everything would be done if he paid. The candidate informed Vigilance that Mohan demanded to get the first instalment today. The Vigilance DySP and his team, who were waiting secretly, trapped Mohan while the candidate was handing over the money given by the Vigilance.
