KOCHI: The city witnessed a musical spectacle as legendary singer KJ Yesudas marked his 84th birthday on stage surrounded by a cascade of his timeless melodies. The celebration took place at Palarivattam Azeezia Convention Centre, orchestrated by Yesudas Academy and the playback singers' association Samam in collaboration with Tarangini Audios.

The event, graced by an array of eminent personalities saw the presence of Vijay Yesudas, Cherthala Govindankutty master, music directors Jerry Amaldev, Ravindran's wife Shobha and other luminaries from the music and film industry. Notably, Yesudas accompanied by his wife Prabha and family members from America virtually joined the celebration on the stage screen.

The festivity commenced with the cutting of the birthday cake at 11 am, where Vijay Yesudas, Cherthala Govindankutty master, Jerry Amaldev and Shobha participated in the joyous moment. The guests presented birthday treats to Vijay Yesudas for his father.

During his address, Yesudas expressed gratitude for the blessings and well-wishes, attributing the beauty of the occasion to the blessings of Jagadeeswar and collective prayers. He emphasized the significance of pure music advocating for a world where music transcends caste barriers fostering a realm of harmony.

Esteemed personalities including directors, actors and musicians like Sathyan Anthikad, Siddique, Dileep, Manoj K Jayan, Nadirsha along with music maestros Vidyadharan, Jerry Amaldev, Bernie Ignatius, Ousepachan, Sarath, lyricist R.K. Damodaran also graced the occasion with their presence.

The celebration further elevated with heartfelt wishes pouring in from afar, as actor Kamal Haasan and singers Chithra and Sujatha joined the event online. Adding to the musical tribute, over 30 singers from the Samam group delivered a soulful performance of musical fest as a special birthday gift.

The festivities culminated in a grand birthday party attended by 500 invited guests encapsulating the spirit of music, harmony and celebration that defines the legacy of KJ Yesudas.
