THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Writer MT Vasudevan Nair has come out with an explanation regarding his controversial speech at the Literature Festival in Kozhikode. Speaking to a media outlet, MT Vasudevan Nair said that there was no point in the media making his speech a controversy. MT said that his words were not directed at the state government or the Chief Minister. He said that those who knew Malayalam would understand the meaning of referring to situations, including Russia. MT stated that he and his speech were not responsible for the controversy and discussion in this regard.
MT Vasudevan Nair delivered the controversial speech in the presence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at the inauguration of the Kerala Literature Festival. "A leader like EMS is the need of the hour. EMS was a great leader as he was able to correct and admit his mistakes. We have buried the theory that power means a good opportunity for public service. Freedom is not a generosity thrown by rulers. There is no great leader here who has the habit of admitting his own mistakes," MT said.
Meanwhile, LDF convener EP Jayarajan said that some people were misinterpreting MT Vasudevan Nair's speech and that those behind it were people affected by anti-left epilepsy.
