PARAVUR: Biju Molla (44), a Murshidabad native has been sentenced to double life imprisonment by the Paravur Additional Sessions Court for stabbing Nimisha Thambi, the 19-year-old daughter of Vazhakulam Edathikkad Anthinadu Thambi. Nimisha, a final year BBA student at Marampilly MES College was attacked on July 30, 2018.

The incident occurred when the Nimisha tried to prevent the accused from stealing her aunt's necklace. Biju Molla stabbed her by grabbing a knife and stabbed her in the neck. The Tadiyittaparamb police initially investigated the case, later transferring it to the Rural District Crime Branch.

Under the leadership of DYSP KS Udayabhanu, the investigation resulted in a charge sheet being submitted. The court heard testimony from over forty witnesses and Additional Public Prosecutor MB Shaji handled the prosecution.

Biju Molla received double life imprisonment, a verdict that brought satisfaction to Nimisha's family. Thambi and Salome, Nimisha's parents expressed relief stating that the accused received the deserved punishment.

During the attack, Nimisha's paternal uncle Elias (53) was seriously injured. Nimisha's parents were at work during the incident. The accused, who attempted to flee was arrested by the police and locals in a nearby vacant building. Elias' description of the suspect wearing a red t-shirt aided in the quick identification.
