VITHURA: In a brutal revelation, an arrested youngster confessed to the police that he strangled his girlfriend to death after she rejected his marriage proposal. The arrested boyfriend, Achu (24), a resident of Peringammala was remanded by the Nedumangad court.

Vithura Manali native Sunila(22) from Abhi Bhavan was killed by Achu after the proposal was rejected. Sunila is already married and is a mother of one. The incident took place on Monday night. Sunila left her house early morning saying she was going to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.

She reached Thiruvananthapuram after being persuaded by Achu. Sunila didn’t return home even late into the night and this forced her husband Siby to approach the police with a complaint. When the police tracked her phone number, it was found that She was with Achu during the whole day.

Both Sunila and Achu reached an isolated place in Palode Karuppankala from Thiruvananthapuram by Monday evening. It was a deserted house next to a forest area. At this place, Achu forced Sunila to make a decision and marry him. He threatened to commit suicide if she rejected him. However, Sunila asked Achu to wait for some more time and promised to take a decision then.

The two quarrelled over this. An enraged Achu strangled Sunila to death after she did not yield despite threats. To ensure death, Achu continued strangling Sunila, who was already dead and was lying on the floor.

The murder happened at 8.30 pm. Since it was a deserted area, nobody heard any screams. Achu slept with the corpse until the next dawn. Nedumangad DYSP Baijukumar and Vithura station house officer S. Ajayakumar investigated the case and caught the culprit.
