KOLLAM: The police after conducting a proper inquiry termed the Friday morning case of a school girl getting robbed in Kollam as fake. The police say that the girl made up the story out of frustration over not getting enough attention and love from home.

The girl has now revealed that she gave the earring to her friend while police have started efforts to recover the gold to confirm whether the statements are authentic or not.

In a complaint received on Friday, it was alleged that a gang attacked a schoolgirl while she was on her way to attend tuition and robbed her of gold jewellery. The incident happened in Oyur Kurisummoodu junction. The purported attack was against a student of Kottarakkara Government High School and locals saw the girl leaning on a post near the road around 6:30 am on Friday.

Since it was early morning hours, not many people were on the road. When the locals saw the girl in a weary state, they enquired with her but the girl never replied. The locals then took her to the hospital and it was there that she revealed about being attacked by a group who after hitting her on the head, took away her earrings. Due to contrary statements from the girl, the police decided to conduct a thorough search which brought the truth out.
