KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has cancelled the unopposed victory of the SFI candidates in the Malayalam University union elections. The court issued the order on the petition filed by MSF candidates, including Faisal and Anseera. The court also directed that an election should be held within two weeks and the list of candidates should be published within a week.

The authorities had announced the SFI candidates as winners soon after they submitted the nomination papers. SFI won unopposed in nine general seats, 11 association seats and the Senate. Following this, MSF activists approached the court questioning the victory of the SFI.

Faisal, who filed the petition, had submitted nomination papers for the post of General Secretary. However, the authorities rejected this without giving a proper reason. Although other petitioners tried to submit their papers for various posts, they could not submit their papers as they were denied the tokens. With this, the MSF activists decided to approach the court. The court pointed out that authorities cannot decline nomination papers without giving proper reasons for the rejection.
