KANNUR: Special Branch reports active clandestine activities of the Popular Front in some parts of the state, particularly in North Malabar. Sleeping cells are operational in previously strongholds, with an ongoing Idea campaign.

The report submitted after the arrest of Savad, the primary suspect in a hand-cutting case revealed his 13-year hiding with assistance from the Popular Front, notably in Kannur. Savad's job, marriage and housing were evidently influenced and classified by the organization.

Responding to the report, Kannur City Police Commissioner and Rural SP have directed stations to enhance night patrolling. Surveillance will intensify in Kannur city, other areas, coastal tourist centers and supermarkets.

The NIA identifies strong sleeping cells of the Popular Front in southern states, hinting at upcoming raids. Information on Savad's accomplices surfaced from two mobile phones found in his rented house in Mattanur Beram leading to an intensified investigation after scientific examination.
