KASARAGOD: The first defendant in Prof. T. J. Joseph's hand-chopping case, Savad, gave a fake name for his marriage registration in Kasaragod as well. Savad said his name was Shah Jahan, the name he had adopted while in hiding. He also gave his father's name wrongly. The marriage was registered on February 27, 2016 at Udyawar Juma Masjid in Manjeshwar, Kasaragod.

The address given in the marriage registration was PP House, Kunnunmkai, Kannur Chirakkal. Savad is a native of Ernakulam. His father's name is Beeran Kutty but in marriage registration, it was given as KP Ummer. The marriage took place while they were hiding in Kasaragod. At the time of the birth of the first child, Savad gave his real name for the birth certificate in Kasaragod Mangalpadi Panchayat. The same name was given to the Mattanur municipality for the birth certificate of the second child while they were living on rent in Mattanur. This helped to catch him.

NIA team has reached Kasaragod

A four-member NIA team from Kochi has reached Kasaragod for an investigation related to Savad's marriage. A statement will be taken from his father-in-law and those who conducted the marriage, who are natives of Manjeswaram. Marriage records will also be checked. His father-in-law has testified that he met Savad at a place of worship in Ullal, Karnataka. An investigation will be done at Ullal as well. How long before the marriage he came here and whether he got help from someone else will be inquired. Meanwhile, state intelligence has also collected information including about the marriage.
