KOCHI: Former minister and senior Congress leader TH Mustafa passed away. He passed away today at 5:40 AM in a private hospital in Kochi. He was 84 years old. He had been ill for a long time. The body will be placed at home for public viewing. The funeral will be held at Marampally Jamat Kabrastan at 8 pm.
He was born on December 7, 1941 in Ernakulam Perumbavoor Vazhakulam to TKM Hydros and Fatima Biwi. TH Mustafa entered politics through the Youth Congress and was a five-time MLA and Minister of Food and Public Distribution in K Karunakaran's cabinet. He was the President of Ernakulam DCC for 14 years and also served as the Vice President of KPCC. In 1977, he first came to the Legislative Assembly from Aluva. Later, he represented the Kunnathunad constituency four times.
He was a member of the State Executive Committee and National Council of INTUC. He became a special invitee to the state executive committee of KPCC. He was away from the public for a long time due to illness. Senior leaders including Ramesh Chennithala condoled Mustafa's death.
