license

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Obtaining a license with ‘H-test’ will soon become a thing of the past. From now on, the license can be obtained only if the vehicle is driven, stopped, started and parked flawlessly. A government order in this regard will be released soon. A separate box will be drawn at the test site for parking the vehicle. In this, the vehicle has to be parked correctly in front, rear and side portions.

Rules to be followed while parking on the road will also be checked. The new reform in the transport department comes ahead of the launch of the accredited driver training centre scheme proposed by the central government for driver training and conducting license tests in the state. The number of driving tests per RT office limit will be reduced to 20 per day. The number of questions in the learner's test is proposed to be 30 to 35. The test will be passed only if 80% of the answers are correct.

Currently, getting 12 correct answers out of 20 questions will ensure a license certificate. The driving test will be fully filmed. There will also be a camera inside the vehicle. Videos will be kept for 3 months. This is to take action if the test-conducting officer abuses or threatens the driver.
