THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The construction of the glass bridge, which is going to be a new attraction at Akkulam Tourist Village, is in its final stage. District Tourism Promotion Council sources said that only glass installation works are left and is likely to be opened for public on February 14.
The glass bridge will have artificial snow and rain showers to amaze the visitors. The bridge will also a feature to scare the visitors by creating an illusion of glass breaking. This is made possible with the help of LED screens installed on the bridge. From the glass bridge, you can enjoy the sights including the Air Force Museum in the tourist village.
An entrance fee will be charged for the bridge. The 75 feet high glass bridge will be set up at the adventure park in the tourist village. Construction of the three iron piers that will support the bridge has also been completed. Upon completion of the bridge, the tourism department estimates more visitors will come to Akkulam. The aim was to inaugurate the glass bridge in the New Year, but the construction was not completed on time. The glass bridge will be jointly managed by the District Tourism Promotion Council and Youth Brigade Entrepreneurs Cooperative Society in Vattiyoorkavu.
