fog

NEW DELHI: About 600 flights were cancelled in Delhi and neighbouring states last day alone due to fog and extreme cold. The heavy fog which lasted for almost 12 hours significantly affected land, rail and air traffic. The maximum visibility was less than 200 meters from 12:30 am to 3 am. Then from 3 am to 10:30 in the morning visibility became zero and thousands of commuters and common people suffered.

Later, from 12 noon to 5 pm, the view became clear, but by that time air and rail traffic was chaotic. It is reported that many flights to reach Delhi airport have been diverted to Jaipur.

The Indigo flight carrying senior Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi who were leaving to Manipur for the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra was delayed due to fog and extreme cold yesterday. Flights were delayed by hours and the authorities did not provide alternative facilities, angering passengers. Many expressed their displeasure on social media.
