IDUKKI: Mother's friend arrested for beating 16-year-old. Police arrested Puthanpurakkal Ajith, a native of Anakkara, Idukki. The incident happened at 10 pm on Sunday.

The 16-year-old's father had died earlier. It was after this that Ajith became friends with the teenager's mother. He used to visit the woman at her rented house regularly.

The 16-year-old and his mother had a fight the other day over Ajith's occasional visits to the house. Ajith came to know about the issue and beat up the teenager. Ajith bit the boy and pelted him with a brick. The 16-year-old sought treatment at the hospital and lodged a complaint with the police.
