KOZHIKODE: Action against two Congress leaders who demanded a bribe for the appointment of a part-time librarian. Karim Pazankal, who demanded the bribe, and Sunny Kizhakkarakkattu, who recorded the phone conversation and released it, were suspended from the primary membership of the party. The Kozhikode DCC informed that the action was taken based on the belief that the party had been discredited among the public.

Bribe asked for the appointment of a part-time librarian in Kozhikode Mukkam Kodiyathur Grama Panchayat Sanskari Nilayam. According to KPCC instructions, NK Abdurahiman investigated the incident and submitted a report. The report was submitted after taking statements from about 20 people.

The phone message of Karim Pazankal demanding for bribe had come out last day. He demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 for a job that would get an honorarium of Rs 12,000 per month. It is said in the conversation that usually a large amount is charged for such appointments and the panchayat has many needs. Based on this, an inquiry was announced and action was taken.
