THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Today marks a century since the sudden demise of Kumaran Asan, who lit up Malayalam poetry through his progressive thoughts. Kumaran Asan, who won the title of 'Mahakavi' (great poet) without writing an epic poem, died in the Redeemer boat accident on 16 January 1924. The accident took place in Pallana River in Alappuzha on the morning of January 16.

There will be an opportunity to present poems written by Asan and poems written about Asan at the poetry stage held at 10.30 am tomorrow at the ‘Daiva Dasakam’ centenary Memorial Building in Sivagiri. After that, Swami Satchidananda, President of Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust will inaugurate the conference.
