MUVATTUPUZHA: A woman employee of Dhroni Ayurvedas, a leading Ayurvedic equipment manufacturing company, and her daughter working in the United Kingdom (UK) were arrested for committing fraud of one and a half crore rupees in the company. The arrested persons have been identified as Thrikkariyoor native Rajashree S Pillai (52) and her daughter Dr Lakshmi Nair (25).

Rajashree, who was working in accounts cum sales in the company since 2021, swindled huge amounts by committing fraud in the company's software for three years, selling equipment to the company's customers in India and abroad without the knowledge of the owner and by preparing fake documents. The fraud came to light when the company management conducted an investigation after financial stress started in the organization. Even the employees who had been working here for years were dismissed after the company suffered losses. Company officials said Rajashree continued to commit the fraud even in the midst of all this. Weeks of scrutiny and investigation focused on CCTV helped the officials find that Rajashree was the mastermind behind the fraud. It has been found that Rajashree had fabricated her SSLC book as well. According to the clues given by the company, the police have found that a fraud of Rs 1.5 crore had taken place.

Rajashree used to deposit the money obtained through fraud in the accounts of her daughter Lakshmi and another relative. Lakshmi got married a month ago. According to the police, Rajashree committed the fraud with the help of her daughter. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the owners of a newly started Ayurvedic equipment company in Kochi were also involved in the fraud.

Dr. Lakshmi, who was working as a doctor in the UK, came to Kerala for her marriage scheduled on December 28. She was arrested for fraud within weeks of the marriage. The accused were produced in court and remanded. The case was investigated by SI Mahin Salim under the supervision of Muvattupuzha Inspector PM Baiju.
