THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the examinations for police sub-inspectors, male and female police constables about to begin, the concern regarding one of the main subjects is yet to abate. There is still no clarity on the sections of the Central Government's new criminal laws. For this reason, the section numbers of the new rules were omitted from the syllabus published by the PSC.
On December 25, the President signed the Bills passed by the Parliament for the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita, Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam and Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. The PSC prepared the curriculum according to the Indian Penal Code, Evidence Act and Code of Criminal Procedure.
The sections of all such laws were included in PSC's previous years' curriculum.
The section numbers will be clarified only when the Central Government notifies the new Criminal Code Rules. The Center has not specified when the new rules will come into force. It is understood that the sections will not be specified ahead of the scheduled exam date.
It is thus turned into the responsibility of the candidates to find and study the newly formed criminal laws by themselves. The students are demanding more time, in case PSC includes matters related to criminal law in exams.
