THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Singer Sooraj Santhosh said that if the criticism levelled against singer KS Chithra affects his career, let it be. After Sooraj Santhosh came out strongly criticizing Chithra's comment that everyone should chant Ram Mantra on the Ram Temple consecration day in Ayodhya, many people criticized Sooraj too.
Following this, Sooraj came out clarifying his position. He stated this in an interview given to a media. It was not the person called Chithra or her music that was criticized. Sooraj Santhosh said that it was about the stand she has taken. He also pointed out that Chithra was not insulted personally or her identity as a singer.
'Artists of our country did not often express thoughts or ideas about fellow human beings. But in the last few years, many people are ready to spread hate politics under the guise of devotion and faith. It should be opposed. Beyond party politics, our politics are our views and opinions. So, if there is politics to be opposed in it, it should be done' - said Sooraj.
Meanwhile, many people have come out in support of singer KS Chithra, who is facing cyber-attacks following her statement regarding the Ayodhya statement. Chithra's video message was to chant Rama's name during idol worship and light a lamp at home in the evening.
It was against this that Chithra was insulted on social media. The video was circulated on the 15th. At first, isolated comments and posts appeared against it. But the controversy flared up when singer Sooraj Santhosh's comments on social media became news.
'The highlight is the innocence of conveniently forgetting the history, putting aside the fact that the temple was built by demolishing a mosque and saying ‘Loka samastha sukhino bhavanthu.’ The idols are about to be broken one by one,’ Sooraj wrote in his Instagram story.
