NEYYATTINKARA:Despite the blade mafia being rampant in the Neyyatinkara Police Sub-Division, the police force is yet to take any action. Such people are lending money with an interest rate between Rs 5 to 15 per Rs 100. Many people approach cooperative societies and nationalized banks for urgent money and when things do not work out, many people end up in the trap of blade mafias.
They get hold of multiple blank cheques, take vehicles in order to give funds. The scams done by the blade mafia are to buy land at low prices. The complaint is that even after paying back the owed money, the documents are not being returned. While banks pass loans in two or three months, blad mafia pays in three days. If you want Rs 50000, one may have to give a property worth Rs 10 lakhs.
Ineffective Operation Kubera
Operation Kubera is in place to crack down on blade mafia but monitoring is not effective in any district. Operation Kubera was launched in 2014. These actions are taken against those who have lent money at interest rates higher than those allowed by the Reserve Bank and have adopted devious ways to collect them. The reason for the blade mafia's resurgence is the shutdown of Operation Kubera.
