THRISSUR: Four people were injured after an elephant ran amok during a temple festival. An instrumentalist who came to the festival is among the injured. The incident took place on Thursday morning during the festival at the Thiruvanikkavu temple in Puthur.
The elephant named Sabarinath went berserk when it was brought to the temple for Ezhunnallippu (procession). People suffered injuries when they ran away after seeing the elephant go berserk. The injured have been shifted to Thrissur Medical College.
The elephant also demolished several temporary stalls set up by traders near the temple as part of the festival. It is estimated that lakhs of rupees have been lost due to this.
