NEW DELHI: As the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya is scheduled to take place on January 22, 500 rupee notes with the image of Lord Rama are circulating on social media. Instead of notes with Mahatma Gandhi's picture, pictures of notes with Sri Rama's picture are being circulated. The picture is being circulated including on X with the claim that the RBI will release the note on January 22, when the consecration ceremony will be held at the Ram temple. However, the national media reports that this is an edited picture and the facts spread in the post are baseless.
In the image of 500 rupee notes, there is Ram temple instead of the Red Fort and a picture of Lord Rama instead of Gandhiji. The image was posted on January 14 by an X user named Raghuram Murthy. Someone was circulating this picture on social media with fake claims. After the pictures went viral, the person who edited the picture came forward and revealed the truth.
"Someone misused my creative work to spread misinformation on Twitter. I do not support the misinformation that is spread with the creative work that I have done. It's important to me to make sure that my creative talent is not misrepresented in any way- the person who edited the picture wrote on X.
The image was circulated with fake claims by an X user named Surya Prakash. 'It is heard that the new 500 rupee note with Srirama's image will be released on January 22. If this is true, then our dream has come true. Jai Sri Ram' - the post reads. Meanwhile, it is known that the RBI has not yet officially responded to the fake post.
