THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Almost a lakh youngsters will take part in the DYFI-organized human chain protests against the central government's ongoing practice of neglecting Kerala and not providing any financial help to the state. The protest will commence from Kasaragod and will end in Raj Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram.
The human chain will end at 5 pm on Saturday. From evening 3;30, various cultural programs will take place in front of Raj Bhavan. DYFI All India President AA Rahim will be the first link for the Human chain as the protest starts from Kasaragod. The last link of the human chain will be EP Jayarajan, the first All-India President of DYFI. Jayarajan will be stationed near Raj Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram.
CPM State Secretary MV Govindan will inaugurate the public meeting in front of Raj Bhavan. Almost one lakh youngsters from the capital city will be part of the human chain on Saturday. The human chain in the capital city will extend up to 50km from Thiruvananthapuram to Kadampattukonam near Varkala.
This is the second human chain led by DYFI. The first chain was on August 15, 1987. Back then, the chain ended with a message of unity on the 40th anniversary of independence. The then All India President M. Vijayakumar became the first link and Secretary Hananmulla became the last link.
